This is a small site for a writer. It sells nothing, it has no accounts to log into, and it collects as little as it can get away with.
If you use the contact form
The form asks for your name, your email address and a message. All three are sent to Craig so he can reply to you. They are not used for anything else, not added to a mailing list, and not passed to anybody.
Submissions are handled by Netlify, who host this site, and a copy is emailed on to Craig. They are kept for as long as the correspondence is useful and deleted when it is not.
Visitor numbers
The site counts visits using Umami. It records the page visited, roughly where in the world the request came from, which site referred you, and whether you are on a phone or a computer.
It sets no cookies, does not follow you between websites, and does not build a profile of you. There is no way for anyone, Craig included, to work out who an individual visitor was.
Things that come from elsewhere
Two parts of the site load from other companies' servers, which means those companies can see your IP address when they do:
- Vimeo — the films are hosted there and play through their embedded player. If you play a film, Vimeo may set its own cookies. That is governed by Vimeo's privacy policy, not this one.
- Google Fonts — the typefaces are served by Google.
Beyond those, this site sets no cookies of its own, and there is nothing to accept or decline.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. In practice that means any message you have sent through the form. Ask through the contact page and it will be done.
If you are not happy with the response, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
